I purchased these to try as replacements for our flying saucer sized dinner plates, trying to downsize a bit. But when these arrived - well, I didn't intend to downsize THAT much!
But... they're cute, and it IS a useful size - just not as a dinner plate! More like for lunch and snacks - they're GREAT for snacks! Like they're custom-made for an open English muffin, or cut-up fruit or veggies. It's actually a very handy size AND shape. Handy and FUN!
And BEAUTIFUL! Just look at that picture! Oh my! And it's even MORE beautiful in real life! I LOVE these little plates! They're VERY different from anything you'll find anywhere else!
I can't vouch for how sturdy they are, though. They've survived numerous trips through the dishwasher, that's good. But they FEEL lightweight and delicate. So I don't know. I don't PLAN to be dropping them on hard floors from great heights, but who does. I'm just going to treat them like any other breakable, like drinking glasses, etc. I don't think they promised to be impervious in the event of a nuclear attack, so I won't fault them if I'm careless.
These little plates turned out to be other than we expected, but we've put them to work anyhow and they're performing admirably, and we're quite happy with them. And, as I said, they are oh so beautiful to behold. Highly recommended. Indulge. You'll be glad you did,

I wanted a unique set of dishes in different shapes as well as for different food dishes. These little platters are versatile and can be used as serving dishes, relish dishes, dessert dishes or corn on the cob platter, fresh fruit bowl or a rice bowl. These give me lots of options for use while I don't have "run of the mill" dishes and I love that they're hand made and painted.

Azoura is a Le Souk Ceramique original, created to bridge the classical, vibrant blue and white floral artwork of the Mediterranean with a more tranquil design compared to most of our colorful patterns. Azoura is intended for those who prefer just one or two colors in their dinnerware but still want the fully hand-painted look and feel. As always, we paint each piece free-hand, meaning we use no decals or tracing or machinery in our production. Each piece is authentically hand-crafted at our studio in Nabeul, Tunisia, just a few kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea. Our studio has exemplary working conditions as seen in our videos online (Facebook, You Tube). We use only foodsafe paints and glazes that comply with FDA and California Prop 65, for your health as well as that of our employees. Our earthenware items are suitable for daily use and can be used in the dishwasher and microwave (though the pieces will get hot to the touch). The clay we use for all our Azoura items is not refractory, meaning it is not suitable for oven or stovetop. We paint Azoura in 31 different shapes and sizes ranging from large serving pieces to place setting pieces to pitchers and serving tagines and small dipping dishes.
