I gave up on this monitor. The transmitting range is not as claimed in my opinoon. I set this up in my bedroom which is about 40ft fron the garage door and it does not work

It works, but for my use, the range (they claim 300 ft.) is not as advertised. My monitor is three rooms (appx 45') away with a brick wall separating the garage from the house and I can't use it because the monitor will not shut off when the door is down. It works if I move the monitor to the room closest to the transmitter, but I seldom use that room so I cannot use it.

Got this as a replacement for my old units that started to malfunction after 7 years in good use, dirt, grime, snow and the elements. The transmitted signal is strong but the main receiver has a mind of its own. In any case 300' range is a false claim, they barely work over 100' unless positioned close to the garage itself. But 100' is a lot of range in a typical house with walls, unless you live down a bowling lane, where it may just clock 300' as line of sight with no obstructions.

Actually the technology has not changed or there is no product enhancement in last 7 years since my first set. Installation is a breeze and a double sided tape does the trick, no screws. Position the sensor at least with 1/8" ground clearance, so the unit does not actually hit the concrete slab in the garage, especially if using screw mount, as you will definitely crack the mounting holes, without this precaution.

Do not position the main receiver behind too many walls, the signal will just not penetrate and will attenuate through lot of walls and obstructions. Remember radio waves do not bend around corners.
Best position is at a central part of the house where all units can transmit equally to a mid positioned receiver.

Battery life is good but to preserve the signal strength needs a default replacement every year. The main unit blinks when the battery gets low. No complaints so for, these units have worked great and would recommend this as an essential, if you fear your garage doors going up in the middle of the night.

Once you have these installed it is difficult to be without them. They do a great job!
